Thinning hair is one of the most common things we cut for, and one of the most often handled badly elsewhere. The wrong cut makes the thinning more obvious. The right cut quietly removes the conversation.
1. The textured crop
Short on the sides, short on top, layered for visual density. Reads intentional, photographs well, and the texture distracts the eye from any thinning at the crown.
2. The buzz with shape
Not a clipper-guard buzz — a sculpted, scissor-blended short cut. It's the most honest answer to thinning, and on the right face it's also the sharpest.
3. The classic short side-part
With a soft taper and a slight texture on top, the side part works on thinning hair as long as the top length is conservative.
4. The tailored Caesar
Short fringe, short sides, almost no length variation. Works particularly well on receding hairlines because it leans into the line instead of disguising it.
5. What to avoid
Long-on-top combovers, anything that depends on slick wet styling, and anything that needs more product than you'll realistically use.
