The Edgar cut, explained without judgment

The Edgar (also called the Takuache cut) gets mocked online constantly. Inside the barbering world, it's respected as one of the most technically precise cuts in the modern playbook. Here's the real story.

What it is

A short, blunt fringe cut straight across the forehead, paired with a high fade or skin fade on the sides. The fringe sits flat and even — no texture, no movement.

Why it's hard to cut well

The straight fringe line is unforgiving. A millimeter off and the whole cut looks wrong. The fade has to be perfectly even because nothing on top of it is hiding any flaws.

Who it suits

Strong hairlines, straight hair, faces that can carry the geometry. Done well, on the right client, it's one of the cleanest cuts walking around LA right now.

How to ask for it

Be specific about the fringe length and the fade height. The variations matter. A good barber will check the fringe line three or four times before locking it in.
