Why environment matters in self-care

You can do the same yoga class in a bad gym and a good studio and have two different experiences. The same is true of grooming — the environment carries half the value.

Environment signals what to do

A loud room signals speed; a calm room signals presence. The body responds to environmental cues before the conscious mind does.

Environment changes the work

Barbers work better in calm rooms. Clients give better consultations in calm rooms. The cut at the end is measurably better.

Self-care without environment is a chore

The reason most men don't sustain grooming routines is that the environments they sustain them in aren't designed to make them want to come back. The chair has to want you back.
