There's a kind of barbershop that's all reference. Anchors on the wall, mustache wax in mason jars, an aesthetic borrowed wholesale from 1923. We respect the craft those references point at. We just don't think the costume is the point.
What we kept from tradition
Straight razors. Badger-hair brushes. Hot towels. The discipline of a single barber owning a single client across years. Cash drawer transparency. Saying thank you out loud.
What we let go of
The performance. The handlebar mustache. The pretending that 2026 is 1926. Our chairs are modern. Our music is current. Our cuts work in 2026 — textured fringes, low tapers, soft side parts, the modern mullet done quietly.
Why both
Tradition gives you the foundation — the technique, the patience, the standards. Modernity tells you which cuts to put on which heads this year. A shop with only one of those becomes either a costume or a chain.
